After a couple years of taking care of a few teenagers that weren't mine (through billeting), I received a text from one of them that said, "You are the best, I hope you know that."

I've never known many teenagers to show their appreciation, but I had put so much care and attention into these young men, never thinking for a moment that it would be really noticed. I just wanted to help and make their lives better. To get a message like that brought me to tears of joy. I had always seen them as members of my own family. This showed me that I matter to them too.
